The Bergamot tree grows well in Europe, despite being a tropical plant. It is cold expressed from the relatively unripe fruit rinds November through March.

It increases circulation and supports tissue healing. Digestively Bergamot is true ally: It calms the stomach, treats nausea, food stagnation, and poor digestion or assimilation.
It helps with infections, is reported to lower blood pressure (most likely via the decrease in stress response physiologically), and may help reduce fevers.
Emotional and Mental impacts:
For most who use Bergamot essential oil, it creates a feeling of being refreshed and renewed and fundamentally balanced body and mind. Bergamot has an uncanny way of bringing equilibrium and equanimity to the nervous system and to the Soul. A key oil in supporting any type of deregulatory condition, especially at the level of the mental and emotional body. When used on point Shenmen in the ear (instructions on the Energetics of Bergamot audio associated with this lesson), it can literally reset the entire nervous system within two minutes. It connects right and left hemispheres of the brain, releases fascial holding patterns in the body, and powerfully opens perspective.
There is no match for Bergamot in relationship to opening perspective and releasing conflict bound in thoughts centered around injustices. In turn, this allows space for ease and calm to emerge. If you’ve ever experienced the gifts from “non-violent communication,” the gifts of Bergamot used thoughtfully are much the same. It is one of the most appropriate plant allies in this time of great polarization.
Bergamot is used prolifically in skin care. It has a significant history of being used for the treatment of acne, scarring, hyperpigmentation, and even psoriasis. It is antiseptic, and tissue healing. Bergamot is a nice match with oily and congested skin types. Use in remedies for eczema, psoriasis, and puritus. It can also be used in deodorants.
